MEDIA AND FREEDOMS
The Media and Freedoms Program of the Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression starts from the fact that freedom of expression and belief is the basis on which free and democratic societies are built, and it seeks to work on that through:
- Encouraging the transformation of the media from an instrument of war into an instrument of peace and liberating the media from state control
- Combating impunity for crimes against journalists.
- upport and development of professional and independent media.
- Providing a comprehensive support platform for media workers and freedoms defenders capable of responding to their needs and enabling them to develop their capabilities.
- Combating hate speech and incitement to violence and all forms of discrimination in the media.
- Reviewing local legislation, laws and instructions and submitting scientific proposals to bring them in line with international standards.
- Supporting enabling approaches based on participation and gender equality, and managing diversity and disagreement.
- Lobbying through advocacy campaigns with international partners and through UN mechanisms
